Traffic Conditions
The traffic conditions in Utah aren't that bad compared to more populated areas such as California and New York. Rush hour is the same time everywhere and so it's slow then, but not as slow as it is in San Diego, CA. When the weather is nice, traffic is nice. When the weather is bad, the traffic is bad. That seems to be the way it is. Everywhere. One thing about Utah that I haven't seen anywhere else is the fact that sometimes there are too many construction zones in an certain area of town. Sometimes you'll see 3 or 4 construction crews tearing up the side of the road (which causes a detour) and in that detour, you'll see another construction crew tearing up the street there. When I first moved to Pleasant Grove, it was confusing trying to escape the construction zones and take side streets because of how the streets are numbered. Utah uses a grid system. For example, the center of a city (let's say...Provo, for example) has a "Center St." Then each street North of Center St. counts up by 100 (for each block) until Provo city ends. It works the same way going East and West. So an example address would be 200 N 1400 E. Starting from Center St. drive 2 blocks North and 14 blocks East. Once you're able to grasp that concept, driving in Utah is easy. But remember, always drive safe even when there's no one around because someone could come out from nowhere and t-bone you. So be careful.
